Begonia phuthoensis

Peltate-leaved Begonia isn't typical in this geuns impressing us ordinarily. I was very interested in B. goegoensis before, but the species needs very high and stable air humidity. I heard there is a hybrid called "sugogo", crossed by B. goegoenisis and B. sudjanae, looks like B. goegoenisis and is easiler for culture. But B. "sugogo" is rare in my area (B. goegoensis is rare, too), and still needs stable air humidity (not as high as B. goegoensis needs).
Almost giving up for such beautiful Begonia species, I saw a page showing goegoensis-like species but with different name, B. phuthoensis. B. phuthoensis is found in Vietnam, it was cultured, sold in Thailand with unknown name for some years, and was given a scientific name in 2004. For gardening collectors, the difference between B. phuthoensis and B. goeboensis is that leaves of B. phuthoensis become total green after development, and B. goegoensis would keep some red color on leaves.
I got B. sudjanae and B. phuthoensis at the same time, and potted them in the same place. B.sudjanae just kept its few leaves and stop growing, and after months, it died :(. But growth of B.phuthoensis is very well, new leaf is bigger then old one. I think if the air humidity in your graden isn't high and stable enough, you might try to culture B.phuthoensis. It will show you beautiful green leaves as feedback.
